FACILITIY LOCATION: Norfolk Dental Clinic -- 1647 Taussig Blvd, Bldg CD4, Norfolk, VA, 23511
DA HOURS: 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday; 6:45am – 3:15pm; ½ lunch break
DA BASE PAY: $18.88 per hour
HEALTH BENEFITS: $4.22 per hour or equivalent benefit plan insurance
PAID FEDERAL HOLIDAYS: 10 paid federal holidays per year
VACATION: 10 paid days per year
SICK LEAVE: 7 paid days per year
Education: Successful completion of a one of the following:
Certificate or Associate Degree as a dental assistant/technician from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA) and 12
months experience within the preceding 36 months.
Certification from a military dental technician or dental assistant school and 12 months experience within the preceding 36 months.
Certification from a Red Cross Dental Assistant course and 12 months experience within the preceding 36 months.
36 months experience within the preceding 60 months as a dental assistant in a private practice or a military clinic.
Membership in good standing with the American Association of Dental Assistants with required continuing education and 12 months experience within the preceding 36 months.
Graduation from a state accredited program for dental assistants or dental technology within the preceding 12 months.
All training must have included a course in radiation physics; radiation biology; radiation health, safety, and protection; X-ray films and radiographic film quality; radiographic techniques; darkroom and processing techniques; film mounting; and, digital radiographic processing techniques.
Certification: Certified in radiography as required by 42 CFR Part 75.
Experience: Six months of experience as a Dental Assistant after graduation.
Provide letters of clinical competency from two practicing dentists attesting to the HCW’s clinical skills. If a recent graduate, the letters of clinical competency may be either from practicing dentists or from faculty members where the HCW’s dental assisting certification/degree was received. Letters must have been written within the preceding three years and must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing the letter.
